You'd think that Croissants were French... But apparently they are not. The most credible historical accounts note that they are, in fact, from Vienna. They were probably created to celebrate a victory over the Turks back in 1683.
Don't believe me? Well the French also call them
Viennoiserie, and Croissant is the French word for crescent (like the one repping the Turks on their flag).
The critical point here is that they are darn tasty.…
